The training obligations introduced through the Gambling Codes of Practice (Code) 31 March 2024 have commenced. These obligations require those appointed (and notified through BOEN) in the position of Gaming Employee or Gaming Manager to undertake specific training within a specified time of being appointed as such and impose a requirement for training to be undertaken every 2 years (except for RSG 2 which is required 12 months after completing RSG 1).  As many current Gaming Employees and Gaming Managers have previously undertaken some form of gaming training, the Codes provide for recognition of this fact as outlined in the PDF Gaming Machines Gambling Code of Practice (see page 19).

While the training requirements relate to individual Gaming Employees and Gaming Managers, the Code imposes an obligation on a gaming licensee to ensure that all staff at their venue are trained .

Licensees will need to monitor when staff require training  to ensure that compliance is achieved.  Members are encouraged to record training details in a Staff Register provided by Gaming Care to assist in this process and ensure that  training certificates are uploaded into BOEN.

Under the Code the three recognised courses are:

1. RSG 1 (formerly Basic Gaming Training)
2. RSG 2 (formerly Advanced Gaming Training)
3. RSG 3 (formerly Further Advanced Gaming Training)

The nationally accredited training courses Attend Gaming Machines (SITHGAM202) and Provide Responsible Gambling Services (SITHGAM201) are no longer deemed to be recognised training courses for new Gaming Employees or Gaming Managers if delivered by an RTO that is not approved by CBS.

The AHA|SA conducts all three of the abovementioned required courses.

AHA|SA Online Training Portal Device Requirements

To access the AHA|SA Online Training Portal, your staff members device must be running on either a Windows or OSX operating system. The AHA|SA Online Training Portal is equipped to operate through most web browsers although, a stable high-speed internet connection is essential for a smooth online training experience.

AHA|SA recommends using a broadband connection or a minimum 4G connection

Your device MUST be equipped with the necessary hardware to process and display standard video files, as viewing and listening to these videos is a requirement of the training.

Additionally, your staff members device MUST be capable of handling PDF files, which will be needed for downloading, completing and uploading documents during their training.
