Pubs with Heart – Supporting Local SA Communities

South Australian hotels have a long and proud tradition of giving back. Each year, pubs across the State contribute more than $9 million to local charities, sporting clubs and community organisations (McGregor Tan Marketing data).

This support takes many forms — from donating a meal voucher for a school fundraiser, to hosting major charity events, to being the proud sponsor of the local footy club. At every level, hotels are an essential part of building stronger, more connected communities.

Community Grants for SA Pubs

The Independent Gaming Corporation Ltd (IGC) is a not-for-profit organisation responsible for monitoring gaming machines in South Australia. Through its Community Grants Program, IGC provides vital funding to projects that benefit people right across the State.

Working in partnership with IGC, the AHA|SA Pubs with Heart program helps community groups and applicants through the process — from applications and communication, to recommendations made to the IGC Board. All funding comes directly from monitoring fees paid by licensed gaming venues in South Australia.

Funding for Local Charities in South Australia

The IGC Community Grants Program, delivered with support from Pubs with Heart, focuses on projects that create real, lasting benefits for South Australians.

When assessing applications, IGC may consider:

• Accessibility – projects should benefit people across South Australia.

• Eligibility – one application per organisation will be accepted within a 12-month period.

• Project type – both one-off and longer-term initiatives (up to 12 months) are supported.

• Integrity – applications must demonstrate transparency and identify exactly who will benefit.

• Use of resources – priority is given to projects that make use of existing organisational networks and infrastructure.

Priority will be given to projects that:

• Assist historically disadvantaged groups, including children, young people, people with a disability, health-related initiatives, and community-based programs.

• Seek funding of up to $10,000.

• Deliver direct benefits to a registered charity or community organisation (not via intermediaries).
